Spatial information is essential to understanding the context and interactions among architects, theater owners and managers, and patrons. By collecting data on the placement of these movie palaces and surrounding structures we can better understand their role and influence on the landscape and inhabitants of Los Angeles. Adding temporal information to the geospatial data allows our team to reconstruct how the environment changed over time and develop a systematic approach to investigating the interactions that occurred through the decades.
